Healing Rituals

Throughout our lives come times when we find ourselves in need of healing: spiritual, emotional, mental or physical. I have found immeasurable healing power in ritual and prayer through these times and spent two years specifically training to be with people as a healing presence.  Some of the situations where a healing ritual can be used include:

I believe in the possibility of (and have experienced the reality of) physical healing, but the rituals I lead do not assume a particular outcome or cure for any given situation.  Rather, they are an invitation to deep inner healing, spiritual growth, and heart-opening love. I trust that the kind of health you need is available to you and that our process is “like removing sticks and leaves from a stream until the water runs clear,” as Tilda Norberg wrote in her book, Stretch Out Your Hand.

“ … healing is a process that involves the totality of our being  — body, mind, emotion, spirit and our social context – and that directs us toward becoming the person God is calling us to be at every stage of our living and our dying.  Whenever we are truly open to God, some kind of healing takes place, because God yearns to bring us to wholeness.” ~Stretch Out Your Hand

Healing rituals usually involve one or more sessions of preparatory counseling. (These sessions are not meant to be a replacement to any ongoing therapy or medical attention you may be receiving, but are complementary to that work.)  The ritual itself may be private with just the two of us, it may include a circle of trusted friends, or it may take place in the context of a spiritual community gathered for this purpose. I can work at hospital bedsides or wherever is most convenient.

Because of the very individual nature of healing needs, each of these experiences evolves in its own way, organic to the particulars of your situation.
